About Wooten

Wooten is one of those Austin neighbourhoods that flies under the radar until someone discovers it and wonders why they didn't look sooner. Sitting just east of Burnet Road between US-183 and Anderson Lane, Wooten is a grid of modest 1960s-era ranch homes with mature pecan and oak trees that shade nearly every block. The houses are small by modern standards — most are three-bedroom, one-bath floor plans — but that's part of the appeal for first-time buyers and investors who see value in a central location that hasn't hit peak pricing. The neighbourhood's eastern edge runs along the Burnet Road food-and-drink corridor, which has quietly become one of Austin's best restaurant rows. Uchi, Barley Swine, Bufalina, and dozens of other acclaimed spots are within walking or biking distance. Wooten Park itself offers a pool, basketball courts, and a playground, serving as the neighbourhood's social hub during summer months. Transit access is above average for Austin: the MetroRail Red Line's Crestview Station sits just south of the neighbourhood, and several Capital Metro bus routes run along Burnet Road and Lamar Boulevard. For drivers, MoPac and I-35 are both reachable within five minutes. The community vibe is welcoming and unpretentious — the kind of place where neighbours still wave from the porch and the NextDoor feed is mostly about lost cats and garage sales. As Austin's urban core continues to expand outward, Wooten is increasingly positioned as an affordable entry point into one of the city's most connected and liveable pockets.
