About Crestview

Crestview is a mid-century North-Central Austin neighbourhood that has transformed from a sleepy collection of post-war ranch homes into one of the city's hippest walkable communities — without losing the shade trees and small-lot charm that made it appealing in the first place. Bounded roughly by Anderson Lane to the north, US-183 to the east, and the Crestview MetroRail Station to the west, the neighbourhood sits at a sweet spot between urban energy and residential calm. The catalyst for Crestview's evolution was the opening of the MetroRail Red Line station in 2010, which suddenly made the neighbourhood one of the most transit-connected spots in Austin. Within a few years, the area around the station blossomed into a walkable cluster of restaurants, bars, and shops known as the Crestview Commons. Places like Little Deli (legendary for its New York-style pizza and deli sandwiches), Brentwood Social House, and the Crestview minibar have become neighbourhood institutions. Residential streets in Crestview are defined by their uniformity and charm. Most homes are simple, well-built 1950s ranch houses — brick or wood siding, modest square footage, detached garages — on lots shaded by mature pecan, oak, and cedar elm trees. Some have been renovated with modern kitchens and open floor plans; others retain their original mid-century character. A few blocks have seen teardown-rebuilds, but the overall pace of change is slower than in nearby Brentwood or Rosedale. For families, Crestview offers access to Austin ISD schools and a neighbourhood feel that's increasingly hard to find this close to downtown. The combination of MetroRail access, a vibrant local food scene, and genuinely affordable (by Austin standards) housing has made Crestview one of the most in-demand neighbourhoods in the city's north-central core.
